One morning, young George ran into the living room, absolutely thrilled. “Mom, Dad! I’ve got amazing news! I’m marrying Susan, the sweetest girl from just one block away!”
After dinner, George’s father pulled him aside privately. “Son, I’m so sorry,” the old man sighed. “But many years ago, before I met your mother, I sowed some wild oats. Susan is actually your half-sister, so you can’t marry her.”
Heartbroken, George called off the wedding. A year later, he bounced back and proudly announced to his parents, “Dianne said yes! We’re getting married in June!”
Once again, his father dragged him into the hallway with a guilty look. “George… I don’t know how to tell you this, but Dianne is also your half-sister.”
Furious and completely defeated, George ran straight to his mother, tears in his eyes. “Mom! Every single time I fall in love, Dad pulls me aside and tells me the girl is my sister because of his past mistakes! At this rate, I’ll never be able to get married!”
His mother smiled warmly, took a calm sip of her tea, and said:
“Oh, sweetheart, don’t pay any attention to him. He’s just old and confused. Marry whoever you want—he isn’t even your real father.”
