The New Pastor’s Broken Microphone
A newly ordained pastor was nervous about delivering his very first Sunday sermon at a large city church. To make matters worse, the church had just installed a brand-new, high-tech wireless sound system, and he didn’t quite know how to use it.
He walked up to the pulpit, tapped the microphone, and cleared his throat.
However, the system was having a technical glitch, and nothing but static came out of the giant speakers.
Unaware that the microphone wasn’t working, the pastor leaned in close and muttered under his breath, “There’s something wrong with this microphone.”
The sound system suddenly kicked in at that exact second, broadcasting his whisper with incredible volume across the entire cathedral.
The congregation, trained by years of church liturgy and responses, immediately and automatically chanted back in perfect unison: “And also with you!”
