When you are lying in a hospital bed literally fighting for your life, you expect your spouse to focus on the life-or-death medical emergency—not initiate a jealousy interrogation.
Mark was walking across the street just outside his office building when a speeding sedan completely blind-sided him. The impact was brutal, and he was rushed to the nearest trauma center with catastrophic injuries.
Drifting in and out of consciousness, he managed to pull out his phone and frantically sent a sequence of text messages to his wife:
“Honey, I just got run over by a car outside the office.”
“Tina rushed me to the emergency room.”
“They are doing emergency X-rays and CT scans right now.”
“The head trauma is incredibly severe, it might be life-threatening.”
“Also, I have three broken ribs, a shattered arm, a compound fracture in my left leg, and they might have to amputate my right foot.”
His wife received the barrage of texts, her heart pounding with immediate, intense anxiety as she read through the horrific details of the accident.
Without a second’s delay, she typed back her urgent response:
“Who the hell is Tina?”
