My Son Texted Me in Code

When I was in school, teachers always told us,
“Reading is one of the most important skills you’ll ever have.”
They forgot to mention one tiny detail:
You’ll eventually need to read teenager.
I texted my son:
“Hey buddy, how’s the new job going?”
A few minutes later, my phone buzzed.
His reply:
“It’s alr. IDK if I’m feeling it tbh. Kinda sus ngl. Might quit if it gets worse. Wdym?”
I stared at the screen for five full minutes.
I reread it three times.
Then I checked to make sure I hadn’t accidentally received someone’s Wi-Fi password.
Finally, I replied:
“Son… I raised a child, not a cryptography expert.”
He immediately responded:
“LOL.”
I stared at that too.
Then I whispered,
“Okay… now I need subtitles.”
At this point, I don’t need a dictionary.
I need a translator for my own children.
And apparently, Google is now part of my parenting team.
