She Blew Past a Cop at 120 MPH in Her New Corvette. Her Brilliant Excuse Left Him Speechless.
A woman finally treated herself and bought a brand-new, high-performance Corvette. The second she drove it off the dealership lot, she headed straight for the highway, eager to see what the powerful engine could really do.
She hit the 70 MPH speed limit and kept right on pressing the gas pedal. 75… 80… 90…
Suddenly, out of nowhere, the sharp wail of a siren pierced the air, and flashing blue and red lights filled her rearview mirror. It was a state trooper.
Instead of pulling over, adrenaline took over. Thinking her sleek new sports car could easily outrun a standard police cruiser, she floored it. The speedometer climbed to a roaring 100… 110… and topped well over 120 MPH! But no matter how fast she went, the determined cop stayed glued to her bumper.
Realizing just how incredibly reckless and stupid she was being, she finally let off the gas, slowed down, and pulled over to the shoulder.
The Ultimate Ultimatum
The patrol car pulled up behind her, and the trooper jumped out, visibly furious, and stormed up to her window.
The woman was absolutely distraught, shaking with nerves. Before the cop could even speak, she began apologizing profusely, fighting back tears. She explained that she had just bought the car five minutes ago and had made the single dumbest mistake of her entire life.
The trooper looked at his watch. It was ten minutes until the absolute end of his shift, and he really didn’t feel like filling out the massive mountain of paperwork that came with a 120 MPH arrest.
He leaned against her door and said, “Listen, ma’am. It’s been a very long day, and I’m ready to go home. If you can give me an excuse for your speeding that I have never heard before—something that actually makes me laugh—I’ll let you off with a warning.”
The woman went quiet, thought frantically for a few seconds, looked up at him with a straight face, and said:
“Well, Officer, about a week ago, my husband ran away and abandoned me for a state trooper… When I saw your flashing lights coming after me at that speed, I panicked because I thought you were trying to bring him back!”
