Anelderly husband and wife were spending a quiet, peaceful afternoon relaxing in their rocking chairs on the front porch. The old woman was contentedly embroidering a cloth, while her husband sat right next to her reading the daily newspaper.
Suddenly, the old woman looked over at him, a nostalgic and loving warmth filling her eyes. “Honey,” she sighed softly, “you never sit right next to me like you used to in the old days.”
The old man smiled, put his newspaper down on his lap, and obediently scooted his rocking chair right up close to hers.
A moment later, she looked at him again and said, “Honey, you never put your arm around me anymore.”
He smiled again, put the paper down completely, reached out, and wrapped his arm lovingly around her shoulders.
Feeling bold, she leaned in close and whispered, “Honey… you never playfully nibble on my earlobe anymore.”
Without a word, the old man abruptly stood up from his chair and started walking quickly back into the house.
Confused and a little hurt, the old woman called out after him, “Honey! Where on earth are you going?!”
The old man paused at the door, turned around, and shouted:
“I’ve gotta go get my teeth!”
