Rescuing a man stranded on a deserted island is wild enough—but finding one who looks exactly like Captain Hook takes the story to a whole new level.
A sailor pulled his boat up to a remote beach and picked up a bedraggled castaway who looked like a walking pirate stereotype: he sported a wooden peg leg, a sharp steel hook, and a dark leather eye patch.
Once they were safely out at sea, the sailor’s curiosity got the better of him. “So, is it tough plundering the high seas with that whole injury combo?”
The castaway blinked in confusion. “Actually, mate, I’m not a pirate.”
Perplexed, the sailor asked, “No? Then what’s with the peg leg?”
“Shark,” the man shrugged. “It bit it off while I was trying to swim away from the island. I had to improvise and strap on this block of wood.”
“Incredible. And the hook hand?”
“A venomous snake bit me while I was foraging for food,” the man explained. “I had to perform a little grim, on-the-spot surgery and replaced it with this trusty hook.”
Awestruck by his raw survival skills, the sailor looked at the man’s face. “Wow. Alright, what’s the epic story behind the eye patch?”
The man groaned in pure embarrassment. “Seagull poop.”
The sailor stared at him, utterly incredulous. “Are you telling me seagull poop can blind a man?!”
The castaway sighed heavily and adjusted his patch.
“No… it was just my first day with the hook.”
