Two retired businessmen were relaxing on a quiet tropical beach, enjoying the sunshine and watching the waves roll in.
One of them, Mike, leaned back in his chair and smiled.
“Life’s good,” he said.
“Name’s Mike. I used to own a hardware store back in Chicago.”
The other man nodded politely.
“Nice to meet you. I’m John. I owned a furniture store.”
Mike took a sip of his drink and said,
“So what brought you down here to paradise?”
John chuckled.
“Well… a massive flood hit my town a few years ago. Completely wiped out my store.”
“Ouch,” Mike replied.
“Yeah,” John said with a grin.
“But the insurance payout was huge. Instead of rebuilding, I retired here.”
Mike slowly nodded.
“What about you?” John asked.
Mike smiled casually.
“My store burned down.”
“Seriously?”
“Yep. Fire took the whole place.”
Mike shrugged.
“Insurance paid out big, so I sold what was left and moved here.”
The two men sat quietly for a moment, listening to the ocean.
Finally, Mike turned to John and asked:
“So… how exactly do you start a flood?” 😭
